Position Title: Personal Care Assistant (PCA) - In-Home Care

Job Summary: A Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in-home care provides vital support to individuals in their homes, helping with daily living activities to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role is especially critical for elderly clients, individuals with disabilities, or those recovering from illness or surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Hygiene: Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other personal hygiene tasks.
  • Mobility Assistance: Aid clients with walking, transferring from beds or chairs, and using mobility aids such as walkers or wheelchairs.
  • Medication Reminders: Ensure clients take prescribed medication on time and assist with medication administration if trained and permitted.
  • Household Duties: Perform light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces.
  • Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals according to clients' dietary needs and preferences.
  • Companionship: Provide emotional support, engage in conversation, and participate in activities to enhance clients' mental well-being.
  • Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in clients’ health, behavior, or condition to family members or healthcare professionals.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of services provided, clients’ conditions, and any significant changes or incidents.
  • Transportation Assistance: Accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, or social activities as needed.
  • Emergency Response: Act quickly and appropriately in case of emergencies, following established protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in personal care assistance or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in personal care or a similar role, especially in-home care, is beneficial.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, empathy, patience, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Training: CPR and First Aid certification. Training specific to health conditions or disabilities is advantageous.
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check. A valid driver’s license is required if transportation duties are included.

Working Conditions:

  • The position involves working in clients’ homes, which may vary in location and living conditions.
  • Hours may be flexible, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on clients' needs.
