Job Summary:

The right candidate prepares detailed part models, designs and specifications as well as manage quality process and other tasks assigned with minimal supervision and input from supervisor. Specific tasks include detail drawings, 3D CAD data, Bills of Materials and Quotes. This associate should have the ability to creatively solve design problems and manage engineering changes through Cent-Roll Products processes.

Essential Job Functions *
1. Works with others on a multifunctional team to define design requirements, sometimes facilitating the process in client-facing situations.
2. Utilizes best practices of 3D product design, 2D drawing / detailing (including GD&T where appropriate), BOM creation, and Quote/PO creation.
3. Creates 3D designs and fully specified engineering components and assembly drawings of moderate complexity components, assemblies, and systems independently based on form/fit/function requirements and production processes.
4. Resolves mechanical, fabrication, and/or assembly problems. Designs prototypes and/or test equipment as required/directed.
5. Independently identifies product structure needs and generates bills of material (BOM) required for designs.
6. Generates / processes engineering change orders (CO's). Establishes prioritization based on project/manufacturing needs.
7. Participates in, and occasionally coordinates, the hands-on assembly or prototyping of engineering concepts, proof-of-design builds, and possibly test equipment.

8. Operate/learn to operate machines when required to get an understanding of the company’s production process and develop the skillset to manage production.

Education & Experience:

  • Technical Design/Drafting training a plus, but not a requirement.
  • 2-6 years of experience
  • Solid mechanical design experience; able to deliver complete mechanical product specifications with light supervisory technical input.
  • Possesses working knowledge of drawing detailing and GD&T practices, able to detail component drawings with no assistance.
  • Experience handling moderately complex issues and problems, and referring more complex issues to supervisory staff.
  • Possesses intermediate working knowledge of engineering design principles related to the position. Has applied design principles in practice.
  • Possesses leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring skills.
  • Strong team player skills; able to work well with others and support internal/external customer needs

Competencies – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Significant experience using Fusion 360 or other similar 3D CAD packages
  • With adequate initial Engineering input, and product definitions, capable of designing the following with minimal support:
  • complex machined parts
  • tooling for urethane molded parts
  • products/assemblies for Designed for Manufacturability
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tolerancing, GD&T, and basic tolerance stack-ups

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
