Medical Services Coordinator (MSC)

(Can be an RDMS, RN, NP, or PA)

Objectives of the position: As an ambassador of Jesus Christ, the Medical Services Coordinator provides provision of patient care by offering emotional, spiritual, and practical support and through medical services by performing limited OB ultrasounds to abortion minded vulnerable clients, under the license and direction of the medical director. (Ultrasound training provided)

Reports To: Medical Director for medical services and Executive Director for all other services, who has oversight responsibility for the entire organization.

Qualifications:

  • Agrees with Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, Code of Christian Conduct, and polices of the Center.
  • Is dependable, stable, and capable of committing to this position’s responsibilities and duties.
  • Expresses a desire to reach at-risk patients considering abortion.
  • Believes in the sanctity of all human life from the moment of conception through natural death.
  • Has a sincere, mature faith and can disciple and support those he/she works with.
  • Holds a current license in good standing with the State Nursing/Medical Board (or a current registry and OB credential if an RDMS).
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal, spiritual, and organizational skills, takes initiative, is flexible and can carry out duties with little or no supervision. 
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, has good eyesight or corrected vision, has steady hands, and has good bedside manner.
  • Skilled with current technology and able to learn new skills quickly.
  • Has the capacity to obtain education, training, and documentation of competency to perform a limited obstetric ultrasound.

Essential functions: Perform the following duties in accordance with existing medical policies and procedures under the authority and direction of the Medical Director. (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.)

 Client Care

  • Provide Center services in accordance with level of expertise and training.
  •  Thoroughly explain all medical consent forms to clients, and answer questions prior to providing any medical services. 
  • Reinforces the humanity of the unborn child with the client.
  • Able to share the gospel with clients and pray with them as appropriate.
  • Provide clients with health education (pregnancy decision options, STDs/STIs, etc.), referrals for medical care/follow-up, and other pertinent community referrals. 
  • Performs testing, examination, and limited OB ultrasound under the direction of the Medical Director
  • Document client care in charts and properly maintain and archive client medical records. 
  • Review client records for completeness (all necessary forms present) and signatures. 
  • Conduct phone follow-up with clients, as indicated. 
  • Discuss medical questions, as needed, with the medical director. 
  • Meet with the medical director regularly (at least monthly) for ongoing medical supervision and guidance. 
  • Provide support to the other medical staff, as needed.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficient in Word, basic skills in Excel, Publisher a plus

Emergencies

  • Follow guidelines for responding to emergencies and unusual ultrasound findings as specified in the P&P manual.

Medical Services

  • Assure accurate implementation of medical director’s orders.
  • Audit client records quarterly. 
  • Maintain staff medical records. 
  • Provide in-service education to staff, as needed. 
  • Implement Center Medical policies and procedures (P&P), including compliance with OSHA, CLIA, privacy practices, and infection control.
  • Help Executive Director conduct annual review of Medical P&P and infection control regulations in conjunction with the medical director.
  • Help orient new medical staff to Center duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure that medical equipment is properly operated and maintained. 
  • Conduct regular medical supply inventory and ensure that the Center is properly stocked. 
  • Ensure proper disinfection of medical equipment and the exam room. 
  • In conjunction with the Medical Director, ensure the OSHA orientation of all new personnel, provide annual refreshers, and monitor facility compliance. 
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficient in Word, basic skills in Excel, Publisher a plus
