The Levis JCC Betty & Marvin Zale Early Childhood Learning Center is currently seeking a VPK Head Teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children. These activities are designed to promote social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Assumes primary responsibility for the safety of an assigned group of children. This position also requires participation in other programs as they relate to Zale Early Childhood Learning Center and the Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or child development or specialized training in early childhood or child development and Staff Credential Verification.
  • 4+ years successful experience in child development preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, procedures and regulations, in addition to the ability to write reports, lesson plans, and newsletters.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a thoughtful and thorough manner
  • Ability to manage issues involving classroom situations in a professional, calm, and effective manner
  • Health examination and negative TB exam results.
  • Meet all additional state and/or local requirements as specified by regulatory agencies (e.g. finger printing, background check and 45 hour course).
  • Maintain current CPR and first aid certification.
  • Complete ten (10) hours of continuing education annually, as required by the Florida Health Dept.
  • Complete other job-related training courses as requested by the Early Childhood Director.
  • Must be able to be exposed to various outside weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to conduct Virtual Learning (if necessary).
