We are looking for individuals with a willingness to learn and perform a variety of trades and specialty skills in the industrial maintenance sector.
A Foreman must have a driver’s license and be approved for operating a standard company vehicle, such as a pickup truck and heavy equipment (trailers and compressors). Associated paperwork must be filled out and approved.
A Foreman is expected to run jobs for the different divisions (HRSG, Cleaning, Mechanical and Painting) as needed. Foremen will be expected to read and write in English throughout each day of work. It will be required in dealing with the office, customers, vendors, and other employees. A Foreman’s position requires a great deal of feedback to the office, both verbal and written.
Job Duties: In addition to the job duties of a Journeyman and Team Leader, the Foreman is expected to perform the following tasks (including but not limited to):
- Understand and embrace Company Safety Program
- Capable of making all decisions in the field
- Has the ability to perform Stop Work Authority
- Must know when to reach out to Management for assistance
- Promote a positive work environment and encourage teamwork by all members of the crew
- Mentor other employees
- Manage employees - lead by example
- Represent Groome in a professional manner at all times and encourage co-workers to do the same
- Advise Management of employees’ performance including areas for improvement and commendation
- Effectively run and manage a project from beginning to end
- Hold Daily Toolbox Meetings
- Assess job-site hazards and revise daily work scope accordingly
- Be available to respond and mobilize for emergency jobs
- Communicate any changes of work scope to management immediately
- Submit necessary paperwork associated with the project in a timely manner:
o Timesheets
o Incident/Accident/Near Miss Reports
o Field Risk Assessment
o Toolbox Meeting Form
o After Action Review Form
o Purchase Receipts
o Scaffold Check Lists
o Confined Space Permits
o Job Photos (pre-job and post-job)
- Responsible for maintaining all Company equipment including trucks, trailers and any rental equipment in good working condition and report any issues that arise
- Responsible for performing equipment and material inventories at the beginning and end of every project
- Must possess construction, demolition and mechanical knowledge in the Industrial Maintenance field
- Must possess various certifications such as scaffold certification, mobile equipment certifications, OSHA training, etc.
- Follow DOT requirements, including ELD (electronic logging device) compliance
- In addition to supervising employees, the Foreman must assist with the execution of the project when needed
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly.
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- The ability to safely climb ladders.
- The ability to work in extreme weather.
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to severe.
Work Hours: Shift start and stop times are determined by our customers. There is an expectation that the employee will be required periodically to work afternoon and/or evening shifts in addition to more traditional day shifts. Availability at weekends and for emergencies is also required.
Travel: Travel is required for out of state work, traveling by air or by vehicle, including hotel stays.
Safety: Comply with all Groome, OSHA and customers’ safety policies.
Wardrobe: Jeans that fit, steel-toed boots, weather-appropriate layers. Employees who use respirators must be clean shaven when they arrive for their shift.
