Lead Teacher Position

St. Mark’s Preschool in Glen Ellyn, IL is seeking a Lead Teacher to join our team. 

This part-time (25-32 hours/week) position as a member of the teaching team in our Reggio Emilia inspired, mixed-age classrooms begins August 21, 2024. 

St. Mark’s Preschool is looking for a committed individual with a background in early childhood and, as such, offers a competitive salary with paid days off and an annual stipend for continuing education.  We are seeking a motivated candidate who is comfortable in a collaborative work environment and understands the necessary aspects of a quality program with a focus on best practices for children.   

Required Qualifications/Experience:

• Undergraduate degree
• Minimum of 6 earned hours of Early Childhood coursework
• Understanding of Early Childhood development 
• CPR/First Aid Certified

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

• Early Childhood Degree
• Director Qualified in State of Illinois
• 20 + hours of Early Childhood coursework
• At least 2 years of experience in the classroom
• Knowledge of Handwriting without Tears instruction

Responsibilities: 

• Planning and implementing curriculum
• Collaborating with other staff
• Conducting child developmental assessments
• Ongoing documentation of individual child development
• Maintaining classroom, equipment, and supplies
• Participation in continuing education opportunities

Job Requirements:

• Able to lift 50 pounds
• Available to work 3 evening events throughout the year
• Able to acquire required 15 in-service hours per year
