We are an emerging medical device company located in Fairfield, Connecticut revolutionizing the practice of pathology. Our highly innovative, comprehensive, and unique direct-to-digital hardware and software platform enables incomparably efficient automation of tissue processing and imaging, leveraging the power of new AI tools. Applikate seeks to vastly improve the quality of patient care through tools that reduce diagnostic error rates, speed up testing, and lower costs.  

Responsibilities:

We are seeking an individual to participate on development and testing of current and future incarnations of our technology platform. The successful candidate will work closely with a small team at Applikate and engineers and programmers from outside consulting groups. They are expected to contribute to validation, system testing, and troubleshooting of deployed systems, while also participating in the development of next generation devices. Hardware product elements include a laser-scanning microscope, an injection-moldable consumable device, and associated embedded software.

Applikate values individuals who will handle a variety of challenges by leveraging a strong educational background in engineering fundamentals, preferably with experience with biomedical devices. We are interested in candidates who have training in any of a variety of relevant disciplines, including Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical and Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Physics. Strong computing skills, including some programming experience, are a must. Facility with motorized systems and knowledge of Linux and python are a plus. 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate education in an engineering disclipine with strong academic achievement.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, be resourceful, and seek help when appropriate.
  • A willingness and ability to wear multiple hats, operate independently, and as part of a team in a small organization setting where a self-starter personality is key.
  • General programming experience.
  • U.S. citizenship, U.S, permanent residency, or a valid U.S. work visa.
  • Optional Practical Training (OPT) will be considered.
  • Must commute to the Fairfield office, relocation assistance not provided.
  • Hybrid work is possible.

This position comes with $60K - $120K in salary, depending on qualifications, an equity incentive plan, a 401(k) plan and health benefits.

The office is located a short walk from the Fairfield, CT train station with easy access to/from both New York City and New Haven.
