About the position

This position requires an experienced dog handler, animal lover, and go getter.  This is a hands-on position working daily with dogs of all sizes, temperaments and breeds in an outdoor facility.  We are looking for someone with previous dog handling experience who can hit the ground running with our team.  We are looking for a mover and a shaker, positive energy, and someone who likes to be on their feet getting things done throughout the day.  This role is not a sit down position and requires energy and commitment! 

Responsibilities

  • Engage and exercise during daycare hours including but not limited to ball throwing, walks, yard play and engagement, 1:1 solo time, group play, training, and agility.
  • Set up and break down of daycare activities including agility tools, water bowls, and other equipment
  • Barn duties included but not limited to:
    • Sanitizing kennels
    • Sweeping/mopping floors
    • Washing dog toys, towels, beds, mats, and bowls
    • Cleaning outdoor play equipment
    • Organizing shelves and storage areas 
    • Keeping counters clean and clear
    • Prepping barn at the end of each day for next days boarding and daycare clients
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of daily daycare schedule including rotation of dogs and staff through group play and add on services like walks and hikes.
  • Prepare lunch and/or dinner for daycare and boarding dogs and administer medication as needed
  • Grooming dogs before they return home including bathing, brushing, and assisting with nail trims and anal gland expressions
  • Cross training in van driving, early morning, evening and weekend shifts

Requirements

  • This role is Thursday - Monday (40 hrs per week)
  • Strong dog knowledge and sense of dog behaviors
  • Kindness and compassion for all animals
  • Experience with dogs with behavioral issues such as dog and fear aggression
  • Alert and aware of surroundings and dogs at all times
  • Previous professional dog handling experience 
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and ability to handle tasks without being asked or supervised
  • Committed and focused with demonstrated work ethic, personal motivation, positive attitude and sustained enthusiasm
  • Willingness to step in and do whatever needs to be done to support the growth and success of the business
  • Familiarity with G Suite including Google docs, sheets, calendars and Gmail
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Availability to work weekends 
  • It is expected you will sign up for some holiday shifts
