As a Floral Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of floral design and events.  This internship is ideal for individuals who want to learn all sides of the wedding industry and retail floral business.


INTERNSHIP STRUCTURE

  • Maintenance and Preparation
    • Learn how to receive and process the flowers
    • Learn how to maintain and preserve the flowers 
    • Learn how to maintain and clean the work environment
    • Learn the different tools used by a florist
  • Preparing Arrangements
    • Learn how to select flowers and prep them for each particular type of arrangement
    • Learn how to select and prepare greenery for each type of arrangement
  • Preparing/Staging for Design Days
    • Collect, stage, and label all items for the week’s upcoming weddings on Mondays. This will set up the floral team for efficient design success.
  • Design
    • Learn how to design simple floral elements ex. bud vases, boutonnieres, and corsages. More opportunities to design will be given as skills develop with time and experience.
    • Learn how to wrap and label all personals.
    • Event set-up and breakdown
      • Learn how to set up centerpieces, install arch florals, pin on boutonnieres, and change arrangements at the wedding/event.
      • Learn the clean-up and send-off process at the end of the wedding/event.
    • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems 
  • Installations
    • Possible opportunity for large floral installations at the wedding venue.
  • Shop Attendant/Retail
    • Answering phones
    • Using the POS
    • Taking floral orders over the phone
    • Assisting walk-in customers
    • Opening and closing the shop
  • Rentals and Decor
    • Packing, staging, and labeling decor for upcoming weddings/events
    • Receiving, cleaning, and managing returned decor/rentals on Saturdays and Sundays.
    • Efficiently flipping decor for the next wedding(s). 
  • Coordination
    • Opportunity to assist the lead planner at an event.  Excellence in customer service and attention to detail.
  • Learning and Development
    • Take initiative in learning all sides of the floral/wedding industry.

 

ARE YOU THE RIGHT FIT?

  • Willing and able to take direction and constructive criticism without offense
  • Able to carry and lift decor/florals to set up and tear down the event (approximately 50 pounds)
  • Energized by a fast-paced environment and can create floral arrangements quickly
  • Charismatic, great with people, organization, planning, handling stress, and communication
  • Authentically passionate about being a florist
  • Leader that is ready to serve the customer and the team
  • Hard working is a must! Being a florist is very rewarding but not glamorous, there is a lot of physical activity involved

Advancement Opportunity: After the internship is complete, specific interns will be selected to come back the following season as floral assistants! This comes with a pay increase.

Hours: The internship will be 4-5 days a week. Occasionally the work day can be 14 hours. Our season is May - October and we are looking for candidates that can commit to the full term.

Transportation: You will be responsible for meeting at the event destination or Studio Privé. Driving time will be paid for when transporting Privé “equipment.” Mileage will be reimbursed by Privé when transporting “equipment” or running errands.

Wage: $17/hour
