Job Description*

We are seeking an behavior therapist to provide behavioral-based services to children who are at risk of losing their pre-adoptive/foster placements due to impairments caused by maladaptive behaviors, individuals on the Autism spectrum and/or display high instances of problem behaviors (aggression, SIB, delinquency, defiance, etc.) and who display skill deficits in need of targeting in Broward and Dade county.

The ideal therapist will be open to providing regular therapy to children that exhibit behaviors, working with families and school professionals, where needed. The ideal therapist will also be open to working in collaboration with a BCBA to fuse a behavior analytic/mental health approach to sessions to increase client success.

Experience working with children and/or children on the spectrum is not needed but desired.

The current position is set out to be as part time but the option to increase caseloads is available, if desired, as intakes increase

Pay

Pay is based on experience, willingness to learn, and demonstration of fluency of skills learned through training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing behavior-analytic services including assessment/re-assessment and ongoing monitoring and supervision for children and adolescents diagnosed with various mental health disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
  • Provide 1:1 ABA services in the home and/or community under the direct supervision of a BCBA
  • Collect data in real time and accurately
  • Implement the behavior intervention plan and treatment plan to fidelity
  • Notify and consult with the BCBA of any observations in treatment or the client prior to making changes in the client's treatment plan
  • Assist in developing service plans, treatment plans, behavior intervention plans and conducting reviews as needed throughout the duration of treatment
  • Assist with writing reports to court, school, or other community agencies as necessary
  • Assist with conducting skill based assessments
  • Attend group meetings and trainings

Requirements

  • *Compassion-focused and Trauma-informed care is the crux of the services we provide to our children. You MUST be able to provide services with compassion, patience and understanding. You must also be willing to learn and apply the various approaches to ensure that your session is compassionate to and understanding of the population we serve*. We will work with you prior to and throughout your employment to ensure you have the tools you need in order to be the best ABA therapist you can be
  • Must be willing to work some weekends and afternoon/evening hours
  • Willingness to learn about behavioral principles
  • Willingness to complete additional training prior to employment

Experience

  • 1+ year experience working with children or an underserved population or a strong desire to work with those populations
  • The ideal candidate will have an upbeat attitude and ability to build rapport with families and the children we serve
  • Ideal candidate will have an ABA background or high interest in pursuing growth within the field
  • The ideal candidate will have their RBT credential and have at least a bachelor's degree

Education

  • High school diploma
  • Bachelor's or pursuing your bachelor's in psychology, early childhood development, applied behavior analysis is highly desired
  • RBT or BCaBA certification through BACB and in good standing (preferred)
