Tod’s Point Sailing School is a nonprofit community sailing program based in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. We are located in the historic Chimes Building in Greenwich Point Park where we teach enduring sailing and boating skills along with a deep respect for the marine environment with priorities on safety and fun. Our new fleet acquired in 2022, is made up of RS Quests, RS Zests, RS Teras, RS 14 Cats and RS 16 Cats. Our annual Junior enrollment for ages 8 through 17 is over 300 students and our Adult enrollment is over 100 students. Multiple Core courses encompass Basic through Advanced sailing and a series of Specialty courses include Racing Techniques and Catamaran Sailing. Private Lessons are also offered.
We are seeking passionate and experienced Sailing Instructors to join our team. As a Sailing Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality sailing and boating safety instruction to students in our full range of sailing classes. You will present engaging lesson plans, facilitate classroom presentations and discussions, provide on water coaching and supervision as well as assess student performance. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be safety conscious, have strong sailing skills, and a passion for teaching.
Duties:
- Implement lesson plans that align with curriculum objectives
- Deliver engaging and interactive instruction to students both on land and on the water
- Facilitate classroom discussions and encourage student participation
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their learning and growth
- Assess student performance through observation, exams, and other evaluation methods
- Collaborate with Instructor staff to develop and improve instructional materials
Experience:
- US Sailing Level 1 Certification and CPR & First Aid Certification
- Strong sailing skills and basic boat maintenance and repair skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with children and adults
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Power boat operating skills and certification
