Lane County Driving School is looking for YOU! We are looking for Drive instructors, must be fun, and ready to connect with teens, as well as adults and sometimes the elderly population.
This position varies as you could be teaching a class of teens the curriculum of Drivers Education (Instructing, grading, paperwork, etc.), teaching teens behind the wheel instruction that correlates with the curriculum taught within the Driver Education program, or even offering private lessons to people within the community to teach them to drive.
We would have you attend an instructor training course on your own time (paid for by us) that may require you to travel within the state of Oregon, depending on where it is being held. Once the instructor training course is complete you will have to take a test at the DMV to become certified through them.
This job requires our instructors to be driven and motivated to set their students up for success.
We are mainly working with teens and their parents so good communication, patience, and positivity are a must. This job requires maturity, reliability, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
1. Attend in-person training program on weekends, potentially requiring travel within Oregon, to become certified as a Driver Education Instructor.
2. Provide private, one-on-one behind-the-wheel driving lessons to clients, focusing on developing safe driving habits and skills.
3. Conduct classroom instruction sessions for clients, covering topics such as traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and Driver Education for Teens
4. Teach teen drivers in accordance with ODOT standards and guidelines, preparing them for their driver's license exams.
5. Maintain a safe and clean learning environment by performing general cleaning and maintenance tasks for both vehicles and office/classroom spaces used for instruction.
6. Keep accurate records of student progress, lesson plans, and attendance.
7. Obtain or possess current CPR and First Aid certification to ensure the safety and well-being of students in case of emergencies.
Requirements:
1. Be at least 21 years of age
2. Valid Oregon driver's license with a clean driving record for the past 6 years.
3. The ability to pass a background check
4. Flexible schedule with Weekend availability
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively teach and communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages.
6. Effective time management skills
7. Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
8. Willingness to undergo training and certification as a Driver Education Instructor.
9. Attention to detail and commitment to upholding safety standards and protocols at all times. 6. Physical ability to perform tasks such as cleaning vehicles and lifting/moving equipment as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in driver education, teaching, or a related field.
2. Certification or training in driver education instruction.
3. Has a current CPR and First Aid certification
4. Fluent in Spanish as well as English
