I am writing to inform you of the dental internship opportunities at our two prosthodontic dental practices in South Durham and in Raleigh, NC. For twenty-two years, we have had full-time interns who are in the process of applying to dental school work in the office. Drs. Mark Scurria, Bruce Gray, Rosanna Marquez, Chris Presnell, and Anna McIlwain have a love for teaching, and our team is dedicated to the development of each of our interns. Of note, almost all of our past interns have gone on to matriculate to dental school, and they report back that the internship here was of immeasurable value during their studies.

Who we are:

  • Triangle Restoration Dentistry, our South Durham office, is a busy prosthodontic practice with an in-house removable laboratory technician. Drs. Scurria, Marquez, Presnell, and McIlwain provide a comprehensive range of prosthodontic services in this office. We also have one full-time and two part-time dental hygienists providing regular maintenance for our patients.
  • Our Raleigh office, NewStart Denture + Implant Partners, is also a prosthodontic practice, and Drs. Scurria and Gray focus on fixed and removable complete and partial dentures in this practice.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who:

  • will have completed their undergraduate studies/requirements for dental school by the end of the 2023-24 academic year;
  • can either start the internship at least on a part-time basis during this semester converting to full-time by mid-May, or start on a full-time basis in mid-May;
  • can commit to remaining with the practice until mid-June of 2025 to assist with training of interns who rotate in as they rotate out;
  • is not quite ready to apply for dental school for this fall or whose application has been deemed competitive but was not accepted for enrollment this fall; and
  • wishes to gain additional experience in the field to improve their understanding of the profession and thereby strengthen a future application.

How this works:

  • Each intern is assigned to one office.
  • Interns function approximately half of the time as a lab assistant, and also work alongside the front desk and clinical staff, learning all the processes that go into running a successful dental practice.
  • The internship pays $12.00 per hour and provides no benefits.

How to apply:

  • Applicants interested in a position at Triangle Restoration Dentistry should e-mail a resume including GPA, a DAT score if that test has been taken, and a cover letter to ------------.
  • Applicants interested in a position at NewStart Denture + Implant Partners should e-mail the same information to ------------.
  • Of course, applicants who are interested in a position at either practice are welcome to send their information to both offices.
