H.E.A.R.T 2 H.E.A.R.T INC Position: ASL Community Leader Caregiver 

Hourly Rate: $20.00-$23.50 per hour (Depending upon experience) JOB 

DESCRIPTION: Do you want to work with EXCEPTIONAL Deaf people? If so, join our team! HEART2HEART provides Supported Living Services to Deaf Adults with developmental disabilities and mental health conditions living independently within a Residential community. 

 

Our Goal: To help them live independent EXCEPTIONAL lives –You work as part of a team to support our clients:

1. Help teach clients to maintain their homes, shop within a budget, plan and prepare meals.

2. Help clients make and attend medical, dental, and other appointments, provide medication reminders. Prompt them in all areas of personal care.

3. Teach and assist clients in accessing community services. Teach appropriate social skills. 

4. Act as a Role model on how to develop a Deaf identity, help create a bridge between Deaf clients and the local Deaf community.

 

 We are seeking ASL and culturally fluent caregivers to make a positive impact in our clients' lives! We are excited to find compassionate individuals who can provide essential support to our clients. Your role will involve accompanying them to appointments, exploring the vibrant ASL/Deaf community, and serving as a reliable Deaf role model when interacting with hearing community, assisting with cross cultural communication in public settings. Additionally, you will assist with cooking, encouraging exercise, ensuring medication schedules are followed.

Full and Part-time positions are available. Shift Days The shifts are Monday thru Sunday.

Work Location Oakland and South San Francisco 

 

Candidate Skills/Qualification • FLEUNT ASL (sign language communication with DEAF individual.   Positive communication and ability to establish rapport with DEAF people to make them feel safe and encourage inaction within their community. 

Self-starter who takes the initiative to create meaningful activities that align with the client's goals. 

REQUIRE ASL (American Sign Language) FLUENT. • Must be able to help Deaf clients with language deprivation improve their ASL. • Must be able to pass a DOJ background check. • Must be able to pass a drug test.
