Basic Functions:

The basic function of the service technician is to install, service, and maintain lighting equipment for LSA, LSQ, and LS projects. The service technician reports to the service manager.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of performing lighting and electrical installation, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to provide the highest quality lighting and electrical service installation.
  • Have a clean DMV record.
  • Knowledge of electrical principles and safety practices.
  • Knowledge of the lighting equipment used by the company.
  • Have the required hand tools available to do service jobs.
  • Passed the state mandated electrical certification exam (NLRT)
  • Three years' experience servicing customers in a similar industry desirable.

Reporting Relationship:

This position reports to the Service Manager

Authorities:

There are no authorities given to the service technician. The service technician performs his duties as per instructions given by the service manager.

Responsibilities:

The service technician is responsible for performing the duties of this position.

Principal Duties:

The following are principal duties of the service technician:

  • Install, service, and maintain the lighting and electrical equipment for all service contracts (e.g. lamps, ballasts, etc.)
  • Provide troubleshooting support for service projects.
  • Write field work reports on service projects.
  • Perform power pack installations and underground electrical installations.
  • Provide emergency electrical support (i.e. fix downed pole)
  • Perform basic electrical panel-work for electrical installations.
  • Provide training relating to service technician job duties to new employees.
  • find faulty equipment and replace it with new equipment.
  • Communicate proactively with customers and present positive company image.

Measures of Performance:

The following will be used to evaluate the performance of the service technician.

  • Complete the order completion report and other reports accurately and timely.
  • Ensure all orders are completed on time, the first time. There should be no rework.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, both internal and external.
  • Ability to do high quality work with minimum errors.
  • Ability to solve electrical and lighting problems in the field.
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service ensuring customer satisfaction.
