POSITION OPENING:  LIFEGUARD 

PAY RANGE/WORKING CONDITIONS:  $15.00 - $16.50/hr for 16+ ($14.25 under 16) DOE; Part time, seasonal position that has a flexible

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1.  Current American Red Cross CPR/FPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training.  

2.  Able to pass Center prepared swim test. 

3.  Working knowledge of lifesaving techniques including backboard rescue. 

4.  At least 15 years of age.  

5.  Strong swimming and lifesaving skills 

6.  Ability to communicate and work with a team. 

7.  Approved Criminal Background Investigation Check if over 18 years of age  

POSITION PURPOSE:  Ensures the safety of patrons in and around the pool. Monitors swimmers, enforces safety rules, and responds to accidents or situations requiring assistance. Maintains cleanliness of the pool area and decks and ensures that all hazards are removed. Monitors chemicals in pools. Ensures that positive relations are maintained with the public. 

BASIC DUTIES: 

1. Supervises swimmers in the pool and on decks. 

2. Enforces safety regulations and rules of the facility. 

Prepares records, accident reports, and other administrative paperwork as necessary. 

Maintains pool area by putting in and taking out lane lines, cleaning decks, covering and uncovering the pool, and  

cleaning drains, monitoring locker rooms. 

Checks and records pool chemicals to determine appropriate levels. 

Assists and supports patrons in a positive and productive manner. 

Attends all staff meetings and in-service training sessions. 

Takes written/physical tests as required. 

Maintains required swimming fitness levels.
