2024 Boulder County Democratic Party Field Organizer
Objective: Building Communities to Defend Democracy
The Boulder County Democratic Party is seeking a driven, self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic candidate to contract with the party in a part time field organizing position during the 2024 election cycle. This field organizer will support the work and mission of the Boulder County Democratic Party’s Field Team and support the mission of the Outreach and Inclusion (OIT) team by reaching into the community to help mobilize Democratic voters and volunteers to achieve strategic organizational objectives and ultimately victory for Democratic candidates and causes in Boulder County in the 2024 election.
About this role:
The BCDP Field Organizer will work directly with the BCDP Field Team, with the support of the OIT team. This will include, but is not necessarily limited to, volunteer recruitment and training, and community outreach and engagement. Candidates with a passion for politics, social justice, equity, policy, organizing and issue advocacy are preferred.
The Field Organizer should be solutions-oriented and motivated about the unique opportunity to work with and learn from a diverse group of community leaders in our volunteer organization and have an opportunity to make a real difference in a consequential election for a leading county party in Colorado, built on a diverse collection of volunteers and organizers. This role is structured around opportunities for personal and professional development, training, and mentorship. The Field Organizer will report to the Boulder County Democratic Party’s Vice Chair for Internal Planning and Implementation and collaborate with the Field and OIT teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Recruit, and train volunteers to fill vacant precinct leader and area coordinator vacancies across the county.
● Focus outreach and recruitment efforts into Latino, LGBTQIA+, and other communities to ensure BCDP’s volunteer base is reflective of the diverse communities we represent.
● Coordination and collaboration with the field team.
● Complete basic field trainings with new and existing field team members. Help our Precinct Organizers and Area Coordinators learn how to organize and retain a GOTV volunteer team for their precincts and areas.
● Complete weekly volunteer recruitment call time goals efficiently and effectively, successfully achieving mission centric goals for recruitment and engagement as outlined by BCDP Officers, Team Leads, and Executive Committee.
● Assist in event organization and execution, focusing on volunteer recruitment and retention.
● Additional organizing tasks as needed.
Ideal candidates for this contract will have:

● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with others effectively and clearly
● Good organizational habits
● Experience organizing for Democratic campaigns or causes and building volunteer bases.
●An ability to meet deadlines and quotas for call time and recruitment goals
●Demonstrated multi-cultural competency. Being bilingual or multilingual is preferred.
● Flexibility, adaptability, and the capability to work as part of a team.
● Access to a laptop and comfortable learning and adapting to new technology
● Experience with NGP, VAN (Vote Builder), or other campaign and political software is a plus, but not required.
● Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) or a willingness to learn
● Access to reliable transportation.
● A reliable smart phone and a willingness to use it to achieve the goals of the contract.
This is a part-time contractor position based in Boulder County, Colorado. You can work as needed from BCDP headquarters, but most of the work of the contract will be done remotely, on your time. The wage for this contractor is $25 per hour for 20 hours per week, depending on experience. This contractor can expect to occasionally have commitments on evenings and weekends including, but not limited to, events, executive committee, field team, and OIT team meetings, and other BCDP functions as required, and you will be paid for that time. This contract has been budgeted and approved through December of 2024.There is a potential for renewal of the contract by the BCDP executive committee in 2025.
Applicants for this contract should be aware that BCDP’s contract field organizer will be required to adhere to all Boulder County Democratic Party policies related to neutrality in contested Democratic primaries or any race where more than one Democrat is a known candidate.
