We will have volunteer opportunities available over 13 different shift times February 15-18.
What: Kidarod is our winter outdoor adventure race, that involves a 2-mile winter hike through the park and across a frozen lake, with a sledding hill, kick sleds, obstacles to climb over, under, around and through, and husky puppies! It is inspired by the famous “Race of Mercy”, where they had to use dog sleds to bring medicine from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska to save the people from Diphtheria. It is our 10th annual Kidarod this year, and is our #1 fan-favorite event. Even though it can be cold outside, we have more people participate in this event than any of our others! Last year we welcomed nearly 1,600 race participants to our winter adventure!
When: The event itself will happen on Saturday and Sunday, February 17-18, and there are volunteer shifts February 15-18. There are 13 different shift opportunities! Saturday’s event will be a night glow race so racers and volunteers will be out in the dark throughout the park wearing head lamps.
