Another Source’s client, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, is recruiting for a Staff Accountant to join their team in San Jose, California. This role works a hybrid schedule of three days on-site and two days remote. The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000 annually.  

  

Here’s a little about the position we are recruiting for:   

The Staff Accountant will take pride in utilizing their accounting skills to leave their mark in affordable housing while learning the different accounting aspects of the organization.  Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the staff accountant will be a key player in ensuring that accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit card transactions are processed and recorded accurately. This role will work collaboratively with all departments to ensure timely and accurate information is included in Housing Trust financials and that financial and accounting policies and procedures are followed closely. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:   

 

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable including creating new vendors, coding, creating, and uploading positive pay file, compliance with internal policies and procedures, check writing, initiate ACH payment, careful review of vendor statements, and filing. 
  • Prepare, record, and process accounts receivable and cash receipts. Deposit checks. 
  • Follow up with customers for past due invoices. 
  • Assist with monthly close processes, including balance sheet account reconciliations and monthly journal entries to the General Ledger. 
  • Support for the annual audit and tax returns through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, filing, and scanning documents. Collect and analyze financial data and prepare periodic reporting. 
  • Assist in annual preparation of forms 1099s, 990 tax form, Use Tax, and Business Property Tax 571L, and Business license. 
  • Responsible for Open Purchase Requisition report up-to-date and assisting employees with purchasing process. 
  • Maintain bottoms up cash actuals monthly and quarterly summary, residual receipts file, and fixed assets acquisitions and disposals. 
  • Assist with quarterly NMLS and compliance reporting. 
  • Cross-train on all aspects of the accounting functions and work on special projects as assigned. 

 

What we would like to see from you: 

  • BA degree in accounting and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience, or 3+ years of experience and documented accounting related course work if no BA degree 
  • Able to analyze results and knowledge of accounting principles. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel spreadsheets and ability to learn file sharing and CRM software.   
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong written communications skills 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. 
  • Experience in a nonprofit organization and with fund accounting software (Sage/Intacct) a plus 
  • Knowledge and previous experience in accounting for home mortgages and/or multi-family real estate development loans also a plus 
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively while continually delivering high performance.  
  • Ability to quickly adapt and understand Housing Trust Silicon Valley culture and values.
