The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging and supportive learning environment, implementing the Montessori curriculum, guiding student learning, managing the classroom, fostering parent collaboration, and continuously growing professionally to provide the best possible educational experience for the students.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Curriculum Planning and Implementation:

  • Plan and implement the Montessori Curriculum including the selection and organization of appropriate materials and activities to meet the developmental needs and interests of the students.
  • Guide students through the prepared environment, ensuring that they have access to a wide range of Montessori materials and lessons.
  • Prepare and arrange Montessori materials and learning activities to meet the developmental needs and interests of the students.
  • Ensure that the classroom environment and classroom materials are clean, safe, and well-maintained. 
  • Monitor and maintain classroom supplies and learning materials.

 

Student Guidance & Instruction:

  • Deliver individual and group lessons to students, demonstrating the proper use of Montessori materials and guiding students in their exploration and understanding.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere by promoting independence, self-directed learning, and respect among students.
  • Provide guidance and support to students as they engage with Montessori materials and explore their interests.

 

Classroom Management:

  • Maintain a well-organized and harmonious classroom environment by setting ground rules and expectations for behavior, teaching students the proper care and use of materials, and fostering a sense of respect and cooperation among students. 
  • Model and encourage positive behavior, resolve classroom conflicts, and address disciplinary issues when necessary.
  • Lead students through daily routines, including arrival, dismissal, snack time, outdoor play, and transitions between activities.
  • Ensure that the classroom environment and classroom materials are clean, safe, and well-maintained. 
  • Lead and collaborate with the assistant teacher and other team members to create a supportive classroom environment.
  • Provide supervision during MGRI’s afterschool program as directed by administration.

Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

  • Observe and document each student's progress and developmental milestones.
  • Assesses each student's readiness for specific lessons and provide appropriate guidance and support.
  • Maintain records and documentation of student progress and communicates assessment results to parents or guardians.

Parent Communication and Involvement:

  • Maintain open and ongoing communication with parents or guardians, fostering a collaborative partnership in the education of their child. 
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences, sharing progress reports, and addressing any concerns or questions. 
  • Present workshops or informational sessions to educate parents about the Montessori approach and strategies for supporting their child's learning at home.

Professional Development & Community Engagement:

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to deepen your understanding of Montessori philosophy, methodology, and best practices.
  • Participate in staff meetings and adhere to all MGRI policy and procedures.
  • Attend all special events on academic calendar unless PTO is requested and approved. 

 

Job Types: Salaried, Full-time, Contract

Salary: $20-$25/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm (30 min break)

Education:

  • Bachelor's (required)
  • Montessori Certification (preferred)

Experience:

  • K-12 Education: 1 year (required)
  • Montessori experience (preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Required)

Work Location: In person
