Disability Policy Consortium, Inc. (DPC), is an independent, non-profit organization run by and for people with disabilities that provides civil rights advocacy, community-based research, and healthcare ombudsman services across Massachusetts. More than 80% of DPC's staff have disabilities, and DPC’s credo is “About Us, By Us”—the belief that when decisions are being made about people with disabilities, people with disabilities should play a leading role in making them. DPC is deeply committed to intersectional social justice and anti-racism, and the organization strives to be a place where all team members can bring their full selves to work.

DPC seeks an empathetic and ethical storyteller and community convener who embraces a growth mindset; values diverse partnerships; and solves problems with agility, proactivity, and verve. The Social Media Assistant position requires nimbleness, effective communication skills across multiple audiences, emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and excellent time management and organizational abilities. The position will support DPC's Development and Communications Director by creating content, managing DPC's social media platforms and weekly e-newsletter, and performing administrative tasks in line with the organization's fundraising and communications strategies. This is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position with a flexible schedule and hybrid/remote work options. Compensation for this position starts at $28.85 per hour, and this position is eligible for pro-rated, employer-sponsored benefits.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram);
  • Ability to multi-task, effectively manage competing priorities under time and resource constraints, and work both independently and within and across teams;
  • Excellent written, research, oral, and visual communication skills;
  • Familiarity with services/products that offer multi-platform posting/scheduling/content management/analytics/integration capabilities (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.);
  • Familiarity/experience with graphic design, photo editing, filmmaking etc., preferred;
  • Experience with spreadsheet, database, and/or project management tools.
