Education: 

Minimum requirement of a Master's degree in psychology, clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a closely related mental health field.  

 

Experience: 

Minimum of one year direct counseling experience in your specialty area.

Summary:

This position is responsible for using sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population, while maintaining compliance with established state, federal, and ethical standards.

Essential Functions:

  1. Conduct initial consultations to gather comprehensive client information
  2. Assess the personal mental health needs of clients and provide counseling services and referrals when appropriate. 
  3. Offer in-office, community-based, or telehealth therapy for individual, couples, family, and/or group counseling to assigned clients as appropriate.
  4. Develop detailed Treatment Plans for each client and regularly assesses progress, providing updates to the Treatment Plan as needed. 
  5. Maintain timely and accurate file documentation and data entry that meets organizational requirements.
  6. Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Clinical Director and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies.  
  7. Meet all deadlines required by the Clinical Director or state/federal partners.
  8. Maintain own schedule of client appointments, special events, HOPE meetings, etc.
  9. Identify and maintain professional relationships with clients and community partners. 
  10. Perform crisis intervention and safety planning to ensure client safety as appropriate.

 

Measurable Deliverables:

  1. Meet all federal, state, and ethical regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position. 
  2. Complete and analyze client intake assessment to determine client needs and Treatment Plan goals and objectives. 
  3. Teach support skills in conflict resolution, anger management, parenting, etc. as needed.
  4. Locate community resources to meet additional client needs.
  5. Compile, prepare, submit, and maintain accurate records, files, forms, and additional information in accordance with organization's policies/procedures, licensing, and/or contract requirements.
  6. Implement HOPE safety protocols.
  7. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations. 
  8. Maintain HOPE's professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the HOPE manuals. 

 

Credentials, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Maintain current licenses and certificates with no complaints and/or restrictions required for the position, which include but are not limited to: LMFT, LPC, LCSW, LMFT-Associate, LPC Associate.
  2. Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  3. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  4. Maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to:
    1. Establish relationships and respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
    2. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
    3. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
    4. Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, fostering effective communication with clients, colleagues, and other professionals to coordinate care when necessary.
    5. Work effectively without intensive supervision, both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. 
    6. Display strong time management and organizational skills.
    7.  Work some evenings and/or Saturdays.
    8. Adhere to ethical guidelines established by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists.
