Doral Customs Brokers is a customer-centered customs brokerage firm in Doral, Florida. We add value to our client’s logistics processes by being a reliable and efficient part of each of our client’s logistics team. We are currently looking for an entry-level Import Customer Service Agent to join our team. 

The Import Customer Service Agent plays a critical role in ensuring that each of our clients is happy with every transaction. The Import Customer Service Agent maintains constant communication between parties, minimizes delays and maximizes efficiency. This role is focused on customs clearance and logistics processes while ensuring outstanding customer service. We provide comprehensive training to ensure your success in this role. DAILY WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quote customs transactions
  • Set up new importers in the system
  • File ISF, customs entries, in-bonds 7512
  • Prepare and review customs documentation for customs release
  • Ensure accurate data entry and document upload into the system
  • Follow up on arrival notices with multiple freight forwarders
  • Coordinate activities with shippers, importers, forwarders and other business entities to ensure smooth import transactions
  • Work with FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, and other government agencies when applicable
  • Follow up with customs and other government agencies to ensure customs release
  • Work with the ACE/ABI system
  • Monitor customs entries and ensure compliance to CBP regulations
  • Maintain constant communication with importers regarding the status of their shipments
  • Maintain digital shipment files 
  • Arrange for the transportation and storage of goods that have cleared customs
  • Maintain a strong and professional relationship with transportation carriers, suppliers, and third parties
  • Prepare customer billing
  • Cultivate customer satisfaction on every transaction
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

SKILLS YOU NEED TO DO THE JOB:

  • Excellent organizational skills with working knowledge of effective time management tools and prioritization
  • Great ability to multitask and stay on top of several simultaneous projects and their respective deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as freight rates, discounts, and other percentages
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding communication skills via all media including email, text, chat or phone
  • Anticipate potential problems and have a proactive approach to resolution
  • Customer service experience in a customer centered environment
  • Be able to liaise with freight forwarders, airlines, customs agents and government agencies 
  • Familiarity with import and export operations and customs clearance procedures is preferred
  • Proficiency in incoterms and shipment documentation such as Bill of Lading, Airway Bill, commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, import permits is preferred

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, WORK EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • AA degree from a two-year college or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
  • High School Diploma 
  • 1-2 years of work experience in a customer service-oriented field is required
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Previous job experience in customs or freight forwarding industry is preferred

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), email, internet, databases
  • Proficient in MacOS
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and technology platforms used in the transportation and logistics industry
  • Experience with Magaya, CargoWise, Decartes, QuickBooks or other customs, freight, or database software is preferred


 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Proficient communication in written and verbal English and Spanish
