Camp Shalom, a program of the Jewish Federation of Madison, is an inclusive summer day camp for children and teens, guided by Jewish values, that fosters personal development, friendship, and community. Led by experienced and nurturing staff on over 154 picturesque acres in Verona, campers and staff of all faiths, ethnicities, identities, and abilities play and learn through engaging and innovative activities, including aquatics, sports, arts and crafts, nature, Jewish enrichment, and team building. Camp Shalom was established in 1954 and is the oldest and largest day camp in Dane County, serving over 1000 children over the summer.
The following are required:
Camp Shalom counselors typically work in groups with 12-16 campers and 3-4 counselors. They plan and lead a variety of engaging activities, work to build a strong sense of community among campers, and maintain a physically, emotionally, and socially safe camp environment for all. The ideal candidate has or wants to have childcare, team leadership, and teaching experience; is building strong people skills, including communication, good judgment, and humor; enjoys an energetic team environment; and wants to make meaningful connections with peers and kids.
