Looking For a Full-Time Dependable Manny for a 12-year-old Boy in Bedford, NY

Description:

Seeking an experienced Manny to support a single mother with a 12-year-old boy (only child) in Bedford, NY (there is also a home in Manhattan, travel there would be needed but on an infrequent basis). The ideal candidate would be a big brother type, college-educated preferred, with experience working with children; an imaginative, playful, attentive, and warm personality; rational, calm judgment; and proactive, reliable, communicative, and trustworthy. It entails working with other household staff (housekeepers and an assistant) and must be comfortable helping with a dog as needed, errands, and cooking for the child.

Job Functions:

Perform afternoon school pick-ups

Prepare snacks and light meals

Bedtime routine prep

Accompany the child to play dates, activities, and appointments (as needed)

Assist the child with completing homework, activities, and special projects. Make sure homework gets done.

Supervise and engage the child in stimulating activities (sports, playing outdoors, playing board games, etc.)

Keep the child’s belongings (school backpack, lunch bag, and bedroom) organized

Prepare and administer vitamins/medications when required

Cooperate/coordinate with household members on matters of mutual concern to the child

Ad-hoc errands (as needed)

Be helpful with an energetic, happy, sweet, Bernedoodle

Be supportive, be honest, exhibit a strong work ethic, and have fun!

Position Requirements:

College graduate preferred

Professional childcare experience

Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, with access to a reliable vehicle or be comfortable driving one of our vehicles

Professional, courteous, and friendly demeanor

Warm, bright, engaging, curious, focused, and flexible personality

Dependable and communicative at all times regarding schedule and assigned work

Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize (time management and sensitivity to schedule and being on time is critical)

Sensitivity to household needs, dynamics, and assignments

Display mutual respect, genuine caring, and a positive attitude

Hours, Compensation & Benefits:

Mondays – Fridays early afternoon to evening (TBD) with the flexibility to stay later and do overnights, if the Mother is traveling. Start and end times are flexible as a weekly schedule (the Child may be dismissed from school at 3:05 PM and only need care until 4:30 PM or finish sports at 7 PM).

The family is open to interviewing candidates interested in part-time or full-time schedules. This is an hourly position, and payment will be made every two weeks via Paychex/direct deposit. Compensation will be in the range of $25 to $35 per hour, and is dependent upon the applicant's level of experience and ability to meet all requirements.

Benefits include paid time off, for vacation and sick days.
