Are you an individual who is looking for an opportunity to grow and evolve in your career? Are you organized, a good communicator both orally and in writing? Are you able to look at a challenge and see potential solutions? Do you understand how to deal with people as individual personalities?
We may have a great opportunity for you!
The Mechanical Contractors Association of Americas is seeking an individual who is interested in training as an Associate Director for their Ohio office. This is a pilot project, designed to assist in preparing individuals for potential vacancies in one of their 96 state, regional or local affiliate organizations. Trainees will move through a two-year competency-based training system that addresses the needs of the individual affiliates and aligns with MCAA’s national priorities. Upon successful completion of the program, a candidate will be prepared to step into the role of an Executive Director with a MCAA affiliate association or remain at the association as an Associate Director.
Under the direction of the MCAA and the assigned local Affiliate Association Chief Executive, the Associate Director will learn and provide a wide range of labor relations activities in the context of a multi-employer construction industry bargaining group. This will include collective bargaining, contract administration and an understanding of the management role in ERISA benefit funds. In addition, the Associate Director will develop skills in association activities related to finances and accounting, marketing, and promotion of Association, advocacy initiatives, staffing operations, and discretionary activities that serve to support this Association's business operation.
The training will focus on needs the individual candidate will have. If you have experience in association management, your training will focus on the needs of the industry bargaining group. If you have experience in the construction industry, your training focus will be in the association arena.
Regardless, we are looking for individuals who are residing in the Dayton, Ohio area or who are willing to relocate who have good communication and organizational skills, who can work with a variety of individuals (business executives and those in the trades), who are open to new ideas and new methods and are good planners. As in any association job, it is important that individuals are confident and willing to provide volunteers credit for work accomplished.
Familiarity with associations will be an advantage as would be a working knowledge of the trades associated with construction.
