Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class, whether in the classroom, on the playground, on the buggy, or in common areas.
Greet parents daily as they drop off and pick up with a warm smile and positive comments about their child.
Change diapers every two hours.
When feeding, hold infants who are six months old or less and cannot sit up in a high chair independently.
Note naptime, amount eaten, diaper changes, and comment on the child’s day on the daily sheet or bright-wheel app.
Send daily sheet home with the child at the end of the day or update bright-wheel system.
Have appropriate and consistent classroom management skills.
Should enjoy and respect the egocentricity of every child in the classroom.
Be open to change, new ideas, and constructive criticism.
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom practices that support the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of young children and meet the standards of LCLA.
Work with the lead teacher in a positive, professional manner.
Team with parents, co-workers, and administration to provide the best support for the children by sharing information professionally and confidently.
Be prepared to teach in the lead teacher’s absence.
Assist the lead teacher in preparing planned activities, diaper changes, feeding time, laundry, clean up, etc.
Assist students individually or in small groups with activities if applicable.
Assist children with toilet training when applicable.
Perform general housekeeping duties within the classroom, on the playground, and throughout the school.
Attend all scheduled meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and convey information relative to job functions.
Complete 15 clock hours of professional in-service training annually.
Be knowledgeable of the Minimum Standard Requirements of Child Care required by the MSDH.
