Serenity Pools & Outdoors is looking for the right person to join our team to help ensure we deliver an ideal customer and contractor experience. In short, the Construction Assistant is responsible for assisting the supervisor, and the business overall, by taking care of “to do” items, warranty reviews, site visits, picking up and dropping off items at job sites, and general fixes. This includes picking up and dropping off equipment and plans, conducting job site visits, trash clean up and haul off, job site inspections, punch list review and close out, programming pool automation systems, and most importantly, the overall experience that our customers and contractors have on the project.

In addition to the items above, we will also teach you the different aspects of pool building and how to become an assistant. Once you have received the proper training and exhibited the capability, desire and drive, you will then work as a co-supervisor on renovation projects, then lead your own renovation projects, then co-supervisor on new pool builds and then lead your own new pool build projects. This is the long-term plan for the role and this could take 6 months or it could take years, but we will work with you on this path.

There are three items that we will always need to focus on as a team: people, product, and process. Our people come first (our team, our customers and our contracts), the quality of our product needs to be second to none, and we will achieve that by having documented, streamlined, and thorough processes that we follow as a team.

The “Four Core” Principals for Serenity Pools & Outdoors:

Our key focus on the experience that our customers and contractors have with us is paramount and what separates us from others in our industry. We are not a pool builder or creator of outdoor living spaces. We are a customer experience company, that happens to deliver that experience by building pools and outdoor living spaces.

When we founded our company, we did so with a customer and contractor first approach. Our goal is to deliver a true concierge level experience for every one of our customers from the moment we meet with them for a consultation, through the entire warranty process. We provide this experience by following four core principals which guide everything that we do:

  1. Minimize customer effort
  2. Deliver on our promises
  3. Execute the highest quality work at a fair price
  4. Do something extra to delight our customers

Brand Image:

Serenity has an image and a reputation for being a high-quality and professional builder. We showcase this primarily in the quality of our projects, but we also do this by always having a professional presentation. Here is a list of minimum expectations for all of us when we are on the job, or displaying any company logos or apparel:

  •  Neatness of dress and care of equipment
    • We will provide the Superintendent with 5 polo shirts with a company logo on them along with a company branded light-weight jacket and 2 company hats. Anytime you are working, you need to wear either the company shirt or company jacket.
    • We will also wear khaki / jeans / shorts that are well maintained and free from stains and rips along with protective work boots that are in good repair. When we show up to the site, we should always look professional. The consistency in dress amongst all the team members is important to deliver a consistent experience across the customers and contractors, not to mention potential future customers.
    • Your vehicle, equipment and tools need to be maintained and clean at all times. The work that we do requires us to get dirty often which will require routine maintenance to keep everything looking and performing at its best. This includes shovels, tools, technology, etc.

Key Responsibilities for the Construction Assistant (at a minimum):

  • General duties – extension of supervisor:
    • We will use the Buildertrend software system to assign items to you to be done along with due dates. This can be done by anyone on the team to assist in active projects.
    • Site layout – mark out new pool projects with supervisor to gain customer approval and be ready for city inspections
    • Site cleanup – clean up trash that is at the different construction sites and dispose of it at the dump
    • Site safety – make sure that the site is safe and secure (safety fence, caps on rebar, etc.)
    • Site visits – go to different construction sites to check on progress, cleanliness, specific items the supervisor is looking for, take pictures and provide a status update
    • Pick up pool equipment / stone / material and drop it off at job sites
    • Take job site plans out to project sites and be prepared to review them with the trades
    • Meet trades on site to review what is needed for their part of the project and make sure they have what they need
    • Final punch list – review site with supervisor and then tackle punch list items, or bring in teams to take care of them (paint plumbing pipes, label plumbing pipes, program automation system, install eyeball jets, build spa jets, install skimmer doors, install weed block and rock around plumbing pipes, etc.)
    • General masonry repairs, pull in pool lights, general plumbing fixes, etc.
    • Pool leak tests – perform pressure tests as well as dye tests on pools to identify if there is a leak, and if so, where.
    • Warranty reviews – when we have a customer that has an issue, check on the issue, work with us to determine if it is a warranty item and get it completed or scheduled and track it to completion.
  • Supervisor duties:
    • This role is expected to grow into a supervisor role in the future.
    • To do this, you will shadow the Construction Supervisor as well as shadow time in the office learning the business and pool building overall
    • Once you exhibit the knowledge and capability to lead a project, you will be a co-lead with the Construction Supervisor on renovation projects. Once you have proven that you can fully lead those projects, you will be given a lead role on renovation projects.
    • Once you have proven that you can successfully lead renovation projects, you will then be given the opportunity to be a co-lead on a new construction build project.
    • Once you have proven that you can fully lead a new construction project, you will then be given the opportunity to lead a full construction project.

Overall, we are looking for someone that has a good background in construction, is highly dependable and honest, is a problem solver, has a great ability to learn and grow, and is a great member of the team. Overall, someone who can “get stuff done”, as an individual and as part of a larger team.
