The Massage Therapist is responsible for performing chair massage therapy sessions to UCR Student Recreation Center (SRC) members and the UCR community.
Essential Functions:
Schedule and conduct massage therapy sessions at the SRC.
Provide chair massage sessions to SRC members and the UCR community via Fit for Hire and Worksite Wellness programs including Mobile Fit and Work Strong.
Take detailed history from participants including health conditions and injuries.
Design massage sessions around clients’ specific complaints or problem areas.
Listen to clients during massages to adjust technique to meet their needs.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly recreation center.
Communicate with Supervisor and attend mandatory/monthly meetings.
Work together as a team with FitWell, SRC and UCR departments.
Other Functions:
Develop relationships and encourage member referrals.
Maintain and enforce massage therapy policies at the Student Recreation Center.
Attend continuing education classes to keep certifications current.
Participate in required professional development activities.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a university – preferred
Specialized knowledge, certifications, etc.:
Massage Therapist certification: The California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) certification, 500 hours of education and passage of a CAMTC approved exam (included with the CMT certification) - Required
Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check – Required
Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification – Preferred, but can be completed after hired
Basic knowledge in fitness and wellness field – Preferred
Compensation:
Range for the Massage Therapist position is between $20.07 - $32.81 per hour. Salary placement would be based on years of experience.
Experience:
Two years of related experience - Required
Previous experience working with age level specific to the university setting - Preferred
Specific Skills:
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
