CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY)-Wonderful parents seek a FULL-TIME NANNY for their 7-year-old son with special needs. He is diagnosed with high-functioning autism and ADHD (‘twice exceptional”). He lives with his grandparents in Charlottesville. His parents will be active in his day-to-day life and managing his care-providing team in Virginia with his grandparents. His grandparents will physically be there to love and support him, but the goal of the nanny is to take as much of the day-to-day burdens off the grandparents as possible.
He is an extremely bright and curious child. He is academically advanced and enjoys learning. He loves logic games and puzzles. He also enjoys sports and outdoor activities like basketball, throwing a football and frisbee. He is a social child who loves human connections. He prefers a one-on-one setting for adult and peer interactions. He is diagnosed with ASD and relates best with some coaching and guidance from those who understand how his brain works. He can get emotionally dysregulated from simple irritations and does best with a structured schedule that is consistent and repetitive every day.
The hours are 12-6pm Monday-Friday, as well as optional half days approximately 2-3 Saturdays per month. The nanny will pick him up from school at 12:30 to take him to extracurricular activities/outings and therapy, as well as help with dinner, bath and bedtime routines as needed. Position is LIVE OUT only.
Duties in addition to complete childcare include doing the child’s laundry, light meal prep, tidying up after him, as well as transporting him to extracurricular activities and outings. A family car will be provided for use while on the job. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. The nanny will be responsible for openly and frequently communicating with his parents, grandparents and teacher. Must be a team player, collaborative, and an excellent communicator. The flexibility to travel to NY to see family or go on family vacations is a huge bonus, but not a firm requirement.
They seek a nanny who is responsible, reliable, and has experience working with children with special needs (specifically ASD and ADHD). Someone who can be a “stand-in parent” when needed and provide him with love and support, as well as social and emotional stability. A plus if you have a degree or background in special education and/or ABA.
Pay is commensurate with experience. Although the nanny will not work 40 hours per week, they are willing to compensate. Benefits include paid sick days, holidays and vacation. Start date is ASAP!
