Best Day Services offers services to individuals with developmental disabilities of all levels of need to access their community in a way that increases their interaction with others in their community. We believe this increases self-confidence as well as independence in getting out there and getting what we all need – everyday services, friends, activities, and fun!
Our Supported Community Connections Coordinators are the ones who make this happen! They ensure that daily activities focus on allowing each person the opportunity to connect with other people in the community through shared interests. They also encourage and help Individuals to not only develop friendships and socialize with each other, but to engage with others outside of their group. This allows them to gain confidence in approaching other patrons to develop conversation skills and friendships in their areas of interest.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Encouraging and respecting personal choice and decision making. Allowing individuals to make personal and group decisions as much as possible
• Coming up with fun and engaging daily activities that individuals can attend considering mobility, restrictions, etc.
• Documenting daily progress and contact notes
• Transporting individuals to and from home and to all activities (company vehicle provided)
• Ensuring that the environment is safe and clean
• Assisting with personal cares as needed including, but not limited to, hygienic tasks, mobility, feeding, toileting, and communication
• Following all protocols, health and safety procedures, and emergency/safety control procedures and other restrictions that apply to each individual
• Teaching individuals life skills such as safety, communication, budgeting, and other required goals as set up in individual service and support plans
We provide the training you need to do this, which includes First Aid, CPR, Abuse Prevention, Client Rights and others.
Position Requirements include, but are not limited to:
• 18 years or older
• High School degree or equivalent
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Pass a motor vehicle record check with an acceptable driving record
• Pass all other background checks including Criminal, Sex Offender, CAPS, Medicaid Fraud, and all other background investigations
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, oral and written
• Experience with individuals with disabilities helpful
