Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Representative to join our vibrant team at the AfriKin Art Fair, an esteemed event celebrating contemporary African and Black art. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a passionate community of art lovers and contribute to the promotion and sales of extraordinary artworks.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with fair attendees, providing insightful information and stories about the artworks and artists.
- Promote sales of contemporary African/Black art, employing a deep understanding of the art pieces and the cultural significance they hold.
- Maintain a sophisticated and knowledgeable image that reflects the elegance and diversity of the artworks presented.
- Utilize an iPad and other digital tools efficiently for inventory management, sales transactions, and customer data collection.
- Be punctual, reliable, and available for the full duration of your shifts.
- Collaborate effectively with gallery staff and event organizers to ensure a cohesive and successful fair experience.
- Follow up with leads and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in art sales or a closely related field.
- Fluent in English, with proficiency in Spanish and/or French highly preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a diverse clientele.
- Knowledgeable about the contemporary art scene, especially African/Black art.
- Internet savvy, with proficiency in using iPads and sales-related applications.
- Elegant and sophisticated demeanor, with an emphasis on professionalism and courteousness.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a sales role, preferably in the art sector.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Desirable Traits:
- A network of contacts within the art industry or a proven track record of art sales is highly advantageous.
- Articulate and persuasive communication skills, with an emphasis on storytelling to convey the value and essence of the artworks.
- A passion for African and Black culture and art.
