Long-Term Substitute: Third Grade
Position Purpose
Media-Providence Friends School is seeking a long-term sub for the 3rd grade, from mid-December, 2023 until the end of the 2023-24 school year. We seek teachers who are skilled communicators with students, families, colleagues, and community partners. Excited to work with children and adolescents, our teachers are knowledgeable about developmental needs and always seeking to be their best self.
This is a long-term, full-time position beginning September 1, 2023 which reports directly to the assistant head and head of school.
Primary Responsibility
Deliver an outstanding 3rd grade education program that is developmentally appropriate and engaging for students.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
1. Be excited, and model that excitement, for all subject areas taught
2. Effectively manage a class through positive connection and culture
3. Maintain contact with students and parents through teacher conferences, phone calls, email,
and regular updates to the Google Classroom page, as well as written trimester reports
4. Direct the work and activities of assigned classes; providing classroom instruction, teaching small groups and individuals as appropriate; providing remote instruction as necessary to deliver the curriculum
5. Conduct regular assessments of student learning
6. Other duties as assigned which support the mission and high functioning of the school
Candidate Requirements:
Teachers should have appropriate education and experience for their desired teaching position. A college degree is always required, and Graduate work is looked on favorably when combined with a demonstrated motivation and joy for teaching children. Experience teaching and leading in schools, youth organizations, and co-curricular spaces is preferred.
