Salary range: 75,000. - 95,000. annually. Dependent upon experience
The Concrete Superintendent is an Area position as opposed to project specific position. The Concrete Superintendent is responsible for the field supervision, training, discipline, and acquisition of talent for the concrete crews. The primary duties are to schedule and oversee the daily activities of multiple concrete crews to ensure successful field operations, to Ajax quality standards, within the allocated budget. Concrete Crew Foreman report directly to the Concrete Superintendent.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Concrete Superintendent directly reports to, and is accountable to the Area Construction Manager further accountability is involved regarding crew performance to the Project Supers and Project Managers.
REQUIREMENTS:
A. EDUCATION
Minimum qualifications High School Graduate with at least two years of experience in construction supervision.
B. LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred: Traffic Control Supervisor Certification.
Asphalt Paving Levels 1 & 2
OSHA Certification
C. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
1. Leadership and negotiating skills.
2. The use of conversational, analytical, and observational skills, which demonstrates an ability to organize, control, and manage all areas of field operations for the road construction industry.
3. Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods, and techniques used in road construction.
4. Knowledge of possible defects and faults in work and of stages where such faults and defects are most readily ascertained.
5. Ability to understand and interpret terms and specifications of contracts.
6. Ability to conduct effective inspections in determining contract compliance.
7. Computer Use: Excel, Word, Viewpoint, B2W
D. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are descriptive and not exhaustive. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar or related, or a logical assignment to the position. Major duties include the following:
1. Provide sound leadership to Concrete Foremen and field personnel
2. Supervision and participation in securing compliance that contract work meets contract specification
3. The accurate take-off of quantities and the determination of material requirements from project plans and specifications.
4. The preparation of detailed resource requirements from the quantity take-offs and specifications.
5. Ensure coordination between project supervision and grade crews with regards to equipment and production as well as equipment service and repair requirements directly with the shop and its personnel
6. Preparation and submission to owners or general contractors of schedules,
material sources, or any other required paperwork.
7. Ensure upkeep of Ajax Equipment by Concrete Crews.
8. Ability to explain Plans and Specifications to Concrete Crews
9. Analyzing estimates versus as-built costs from the job cost system.
10. Ensure a safe work environment is being utilized at all times on jobs

2. Ensure all Ajax quality standards are met.
3. Ensure adherence to all federal, state, local, and Ajax Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.
F. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Field operation, asphalt plants, lab, and office environment.
Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
G. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The essential functions of this position include sitting, standing, walking, climbing,
reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting a minimum of 45 lbs., carrying,
pushing/pulling, low-level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, and seeing, hearing, and
talking.
