LARP Adventure Program’s day camps are a combination of theater, martial arts, and costume/prop/stage design. If you think hands-on experiences are the best way to learn then this might be a great way for you to spend your summer!

We use the LARP format to teach kids 21st-century skills like critical thinking and leadership through immersive storytelling and transformational experiences. LARP stands for Live Action Role Playing. Experience with LARP or tabletop roleplaying games is NOT required. We will train you!

We’re now looking for experienced educators for our summer day camps in the Greater Boston area. 

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and leads a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include DIY projects and crafts, physical games, theater activities, creative writing, etc.
  • Requests supplies and materials for weekly activities.
  • Identifies and responds to camper behavior issues.
  • Ensures that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for camper safety and whereabouts at all times.
  • Reports concerns to Site Coordinator and LAP Administration.

Requirements:

  • At least 1-year experience working with children (i.e. teaching youth elementary school and middle school or working summer camps)
  • Have a sense of fun
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, arts and craft, theater and improv, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with/without direct supervision
  • Ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Positive CORI/SORI and BRC Reports
  • Current CPR/First Aid certificate or ability to get certified within 30 days from DOH
  • Ability to work throughout the summer
  • Ability to perform safety drills

Candidates with the following backgrounds are encouraged to apply:

  • Art and DIY Projects (EVA, Cosplay, Prop Building, Costume Making, Sewing, Medieval Crafts, etc.)
  • Theater
  • Martial Arts
  • Creative Writing and Storytelling
  • Expeditionary Education: Outward Bound, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. 

Working Conditions:

  • Job Type: Temporary / Seasonal Full Time
  • Location: Arlington and  Winchester
  • Must be available for work from June 21 – August 13th (You don’t need to be fully available this entire time. We will take people to work within this time period, but there may not be hours every week – will depend on enrollment.)
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
  • Must be available for pre-camp training 
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  • Visual and auditory ability to supervise program participants.
  • Ability to remain alert, attentive and responsible.
  • Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
