Under the direction of the Center Director, our direct care staff will provide supportive services to our residents.
Duties and Responsibilities
Direct care staff provide care to residents, recognize individual needs, encourage independence, and treat each of our seniors with respect and dignity.
You will assist our residents with activities of daily living including, but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming and other personal care needs, as well as feeding assistance, cleaning, and laundry.
Direct care staff will also engage our residents in meaningful conversations and provide various forms of enriching engagement.
Other duties will include, but are not limited to, meal preparation and feeding, activity assistance, and medication reminders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience is preferred.
Direct care staff must participate in annual, required in-service training and screening, including, but not limited to infection control, TB testing, safety training, and other required training.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships, and respect the physical, spiritual, and well-being of residents and co-workers.
Must be able to organize and maintain flexible scheduling to coordinate job responsibilities.
Ability to work sensitively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to participate with residents with dementia, Alzheimer's or other forms of cognitive impairment.
Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up to date before engaging in direct resident contact.
Based on State of Michigan regulations, completion of training or certification may be required.
Working Conditions
19 bed memory care community in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan.
Working conditions are variable. With exposure to communicable diseases, due to residential environment. There is also a potential for exposure to chemicals such as cleaning solutions and medications.
