Glynn Group Engineering & Architecture, PLLC (GGEA) has a position open for a Structural Engineer to join our team and provide technical expertise in the design, analysis, and evaluation of various structures. The successful candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering principles and practices, including knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and various building materials. As an engineer, you will be responsible for developing plans, specifications, and calculations for various projects. Our work encompasses many different industries and project types, including commercial, industrial, manufacturing buildings and structures, amusements rides and structures, and construction engineering. We do work for many clients all over the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze structural systems and components.
  • Prepare plans, drawings, and specifications for construction projects.
  • Perform engineering design using steel, concrete, and wood construction.
  • Perform site visits and site observations when needed during construction.
  • Perform construction inspections when needed.
  • Provide services during construction of projects such as answering Requests for Informations, review of submittals, conducting site meetings, and review of alternate designs or substitutions.
  • Stay up-to-date on current technologies, construction methods, and codes and standards.
  • Prepare professional reports and letters.
  • Communicate with clients regarding projects and deliverables.
  • This is a small firm, so being capable of handling projects individually and working with a team is an essential part of this position.
  • Perform QA/QC review of work completed by junior staff.

Qualifications:

  • 6 - 8 years of Structural / Civil engineering is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is a must.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask on multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • NY Professional Engineer's License or ability to obtain one within 1 year is preferred. Out of state PE's with ability to achieve reciprocal licensure are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD is a must.
  • Knowledge and experience with Revit, MathCAD, and Risa is a plus.
  • Familiarity with material design codes and standards.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally for 1-3 day trips
