Your role in helping us shape the future:

The Human Resources team at U.S. News & World Report is seeking a Yearlong Human Resources intern! This is a full time, paid, Yearlong Human Resources Intern role. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a passionate team of HR professionals, learn from talented coworkers, and drive Human Resources’ initiatives. Are you up to the challenge?

  • Assist recruiters with sourcing applicants and reviewing resumes for various roles
  • Schedule and conduct phone screens and reference checks for potential new hires
  • Extending verbal offers for entry level & junior roles along with drafting offer letters for new hires
  • Post, update and remove job postings from job boards, career pages, social networks and the applicant tracking system
  • Generate reports from various HR systems (performance management, applicant tracking system, human resources information systems, reporting metrics)
  • Assist with onboarding new hires; welcome letter, schedule new hire orientation sessions, host HR orientations
  • Administrative work (processing PA forms, uploading documents to employee files in ATS -Paychex, facilitating onboarding and departure of employees, etc.)
  • Coordinate and attend career fairs
  • Participate in the implementation of various HR programs
  • Facilitating company’s summer internship program and being the Ambassador for the summer internship program
  • Assisting with our High School partnership programs; preparing collateral and presentations for the team; and more.
  • Assisting HR Manager with any necessary projects

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

You should definitely have:

  • High sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Great attention to detail and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
  • Good oral and written communication skills

It would be nice if you had:

  • Interest in human resources; preferably recruitment
  • Prior experience with an applicant tracking system a plus but not necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and Google Products: Drive, Docs, Sheets
  • Agility with learning how to navigate on-line HR systems

Yearlong Intern Program Description:

  • This is a 12-month position
  • The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day
  • The wage for this position is $17.00/hour
