Job description
- Legal Eagle is seeking experienced court reporters in the Greenville and Columbia, South Carolina, areas. Court Reporters will serve Legal Eagle clients by taking depositions in conference rooms, at law firms, and in the Greenville County Probate Court System. Select court reporters will be required to accurately capture the record of proceeding through the use stenographs, voice writing, or rapid writers (digital court reporting). Court Reporters must provide certified transcripts by deadlines indicated by the client or court system. Applicants for this position may be considered as a third-party contractor or employee of Legal Eagle.
- Legal Eagle is offering a conditional signing bonus and a guaranteed monthly draw. Legal Eagle also guarantees payment at the next bimonthly pay period after the final work product turn-in date.

Responsibilities
- Attend client depositions or court proceedings and create verbatim recordings to create a clear and complete quality audio recording of legal proceedings.
- Acquire and maintain equipment and supplies necessary to capture the record. Verifies proper operation of his/her equipment prior to legal proceedings and troubleshoots issues.
- Read or playback testimony during proceedings at the direction of the attorney or judge.
- Receive and maintain exhibits entered as evidence.
- Prepares certified verbatim transcripts with exhibits including proceeding indexes. Certify the accuracy and completeness of transcripts. Produce completed transcripts to the Production Manager within proscribed deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of official records.
- Adheres to common principles of professionalism to include being punctual and prepared.
- Dressed in accordance with Legal Eagle’s professional dress code. Be courteous and civil when interacting with the judges, attorneys, parties, and the public.
- Remain a neutral observer refraining from causing disruptions to the proceedings and exercising the highest levels of professional integrity.
- Must be able to work independently, exercising good judgement and discretion.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma AND a degree in court reporting from an accredited school or court reporting institution; OR
- Verified credentials as a Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) by the National Court Reporters Association, OR
- Certified Digital Court Reporter by AAERT; OR
- Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) by the National Verbatim Reporters Association.
- Notary of the Public Preferred
- Legal experience with a thorough knowledge of hearing procedures and preparation of transcripts is required.
- Must have dependable transportation and the ability to serve one of the three indicated metro areas.
- General knowledge of nationally recognized court reporter practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and use of modern court reporting technology and equipment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
- Must possess excellent transcription, time management, and listening skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently.
- Punctuality is a requirement.
- Self-driven and motivated
The selected candidates will be available Monday through Friday. Pay will be commensurate by experience and according to the Legal Eagle court reporter pay schedule (provided at a later date).
