Job Overview:
Adaptive Minds Coaching (------------), an approved Autism Waiver Program Provider in MD is seeking 1:1 Autism Support Technicians to work with Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Montgomery County, Howard County and Frederick County.
As a 1:1 Support Technician for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support and assistance to children with autism. This position focuses on creating a supportive and nurturing environment for these children, helping them develop essential life skills, and facilitating their overall growth and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- One-on-One Support: Work closely with chil
- dren with autism on a one-on-one basis, tailoring support to their unique needs and abilities.
- Implement Individualized Plans: Follow individualized treatment and behavior plans designed for each child, promoting their progress and development.
- Skill Development: Assist in the development of essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and daily living activities.
- Behavior Management: Utilize effective behavior management techniques to encourage positive behaviors and address challenging behaviors when they arise.
- Data Collection: Maintain accurate records of each child's progress and behaviors, ensuring data is regularly updated and shared with the appropriate team members.
- Collaborative Approach: Collaborate with other professionals, including special education teachers, therapists, and parents, to create a comprehensive support network for each child.
- Safety and Well-being: Ensure the safety and well-being of the children in your care, both at home and in the community.
- Flexibility: Be adaptable to changing needs and schedules, providing support where and when it is needed most.
Qualifications:
- Have volunteer or employment experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities as a service provider or as a family member for a minimum of 100 hours
- Previous experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder or in a related field is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping children with special needs.
- Ability to follow and implement individualized plans and instructions effectively.
- Reliable and punctual, with the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and other clearance requirements as necessary.
