Bessemer Management Overview:

Based in Cleveland, Ohio, Bessemer Management Company has more than 85 years of experience in the trucking, logistics and equipment leasing industries. Our family of companies is primarily comprised of a network of 2,400 trucks operated by independent contractors hauling various types of commodities.

We’re growing and currently have a need within our flatbed division under Kaplan Trucking. Rather than trying to find applicants that are just looking for a job, we’re more interested in finding the right individual who is looking for a career and that fits our culture.

This opportunity is in Kaplan’s Tipp City, OH office and is considered a Dispatch Trainee position.  Instead of describing the position, below is a list of qualifications and personality traits the ideal candidate should have. 

Ideal qualifications and traits for Dispatch Trainee candidates:

  • Preferably an individual with some sort of College Degree and 1-2 years of business experience.
  • Enjoy interacting and assisting others. This includes co-workers, other managers/supervisors, customers, terminals/agents, and owner-operators (truck drivers).
  • Take pride in and ownership of your work. You’re willing to “roll up your sleeves” to get the job done and would say you have a strong work ethic.
  • Strong communicator, whether in-person, on the phone, or using email. Understand the importance of recognizing tone on phone calls/in email and how to appropriately respond, especially in situations where cultural/international differences are prevalent.
  • Self-driven, self-starter who isn’t afraid of working in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving environment.
  • Have a knack for problem-solving and creative thinking. You enjoy and are good at brainstorming to come up with “outside the box,” ethical, and professional solutions to problems and win-win compromises.
  • Value follow-up and believe it’s important to make sure that everyone around you has the information they need so nothing “falls through the cracks.”
  • Enjoy learning and/or would describe yourself as a “lifelong learner.” You’re curious to learn about other departments and business functions beyond what you do on a daily basis to help you “connect the dots” in your role.
  • Would describe yourself as organized (or more organized) than most other people you know.
  • Can manage priorities with direction and guidance. When priorities shift or an emergent situation arises, you can exhibit “grace under pressure.”
  • Can multi-task without losing track of details.
  • Generally have a positive attitude and friendly demeanor that allows you to cultivate professional working relationships with those around you.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 per year
