Youth Director
Our church is seeking an individual who will be responsible for reaching out to, caring for, and teaching spiritual formation to youth, grades 6-12 in our church and in the wider community. We expect the candidate to have a growing, personal relationship with Christ, and a big heart for Youth. This individual should possess good communication skills, an ability to think outside of the box, be able to work as both a team player and leader, and have efficient organizational skills. The position is 15-30 hours/week, including Sundays. Please include Cover letter, Resume and three references.
Purpose:
To serve primarily as Minister to the youth of Midway Community Covenant Church, to plan and participate in Youth Ministries that reflect the core values and vision of Christianity; in coordination with the senior pastor to form and empower a team of volunteer leaders to minister to youth and families of the Des Moines community.

• Be a competent teacher of the Bible and foundations of the Christian faith, and be willing to seek further education and skills as necessary and/or appropriate
• Help our youth grow in their faith with God
• Have the ability to connect with youth relationally and to foster healthy interpersonal relationships among the youth
• Possess the ability to teach/model how Scripture informs our lives and how we live.
• Work collaboratively with the Council, Spiritual Formation team, parents and volunteers, and with other leaders in the community
• Exhibit effective organizational planning and timely follow-through
• Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work well with church staff and volunteers.
• Seminary/Bible School education a plus
Responsibilities:
• Maintain a healthy balance of personal spiritual formation, self-care, and ministry
• Create and maintain a worshipful and safe environment for Christian discipleship and spiritual growth/education.
• Lead weekly Confirmation class.
• Provide leadership for, and participate in, youth group.
• Facilitate/nurture leadership for Youth Adult Leadership team.
• Collaborate with Lead Pastor in choosing curriculum; recruit and lead youth volunteers.
• Develop a long-term discipleship plan and points of intersection that allow our youth to enter into worship and fellowship.
• Participate in service, outreach and evangelism in local community.
• Engage parents in the spiritual formation of youth.
• Prepare and steward the youth ministry budget.
• Provide a Year-end summary for the church's Annual Report
Schedule:
These 15-30 hours per week position may require periodically working in the evening and occasional weekends. It will require working for the entirety of Sunday mornings. The schedule is flexible and will be organized around ministry needs. Ministry presence is required Christmas and Easter.
Hours and Compensation
• The position is a salaried 15-30 hours a week position, $20-$30/hr depending on experience.
• Compensation includes two Sundays (with pay) of vacation (not to be taken at Christmas or during Easter.)
This position reports to the Senior Pastor. The Youth Pastor will meet regularly with the Senior Pastor. Yearly review with Senior Pastor.
Special Note: Candidate will be required to complete and pass a Background Check.
