Compensation: $500 Advance, 3.5% Royalty

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled illustrator/comic book artist to collaborate with a first-time author on a unique and socially significant project. The focus of this project is to transform a 100-page book into an engaging and visually captivating comic book that celebrates African and African American hair culture.

Responsibilities:

• Translate the book's content into visually appealing comic book panels.
• Create hand-drawn illustrations and integrate historic photos to enhance the storytelling.
• Collaborate closely with the author to ensure the artistic vision aligns with the narrative.
• Maintain the project's artistic consistency and style throughout.

Requirements:

• Proficient in hand-drawn illustration and comic book artistry.
• Passion for and understanding of African and African American hair culture.
• Ability to effectively convey emotions and narratives through artwork.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with the author.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to meeting project deadlines.

Additional Information: To receive a copy of the book manuscript and further project details, the selected candidate will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
