Job Purpose:
The Michigan Israel Business Accelerator (MIBA) is a nonprofit international trade and economic development organization that serves as the state of Michigan’s lead for driving economic prosperity and job creation between Michigan and Israel.
We invite you to join our team! We are experiencing significant growth and are currently seeking a dynamic and self-directed individual to serve as our Community Engagement Manager. In this newly created position, you will play a pivotal role in designing and executing strategies to build and deepen supporter and investor relationships, strengthen community/ecosystem partnerships, and ultimately lead and manage all development efforts in support of the annual strategic plan. This position is responsible for donor cultivation, major gifts, grant management, and the planning and coordination of all fund development efforts. This position is also responsible for planning events that drive organizational awareness and partnerships with ecosystem partners. The ideal candidate is extremely organized, self-motivated, and works well in a small, dynamic work environment. Excellent presentation skills are a must along with the ability to balance complex task management that include researching, composing, and submitting grant proposals; adeptly managing donor/sponsor relationships; and actively contributing to the planning and seamless execution of events. This position plays a key role in securing financial resources to support the organization's mission and drive its initiatives forward. Lastly, the candidate will demonstrate strong work plan development and progress oversight skills along with a high degree of comfort collaborating with and presenting to external stakeholders, C-suite executives, and international partners.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Recruit, cultivate, and solicit prospects and donors, and steward current relationships.
- Cultivate and maintain ongoing relationships with current donors.
- Identify, qualify, and prioritize potential target funders for specific initiatives, events, and the MIBA related activities.
- Execute the fulfillment process including special letters, gift acknowledgements, and other communications with donors.
- Execute MIBA grant processes from inquiry to fulfillment and include research and proposal writing.
- Prepare all necessary documentation and submissions for grant applications, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Plan and coordinate all fundraising events, member/donor events, including contracts, budgets, all event details, follow-up, and fulfillment.
- Develop event marketing tools to include promotional plan that includes the design, projects, deadlines, and copy for special fundraising events and member/donor events.
- In cooperation with the external marketing partners, coordinate print, web, and social media to promote MIBA and its work to external audiences.
- Learn MIBA’s history in order to write compelling and persuasive grant proposals that align with the organization's goals and initiatives.
- Research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other sources.
- Keep supporters informed about the impact of their contributions.
- Collaborate with team members on the planning and execution of events including logistics, catering, and invitations.
- Engage with attendees and supporters during events to foster a sense of community and donor appreciation.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience (e.g., sales background, project management)
- Ability to adapt, think critically, and learn in a dynamic environment
- Highly organized with great attention to detail and deadlines
- Excellent research and verbal/written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player with strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and ability to build trust and productive relationships
