Job Description: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to fill a temporary position as a Shipping and Receiving Clerk. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for handling incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all logistics operations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth workflow within the company and ensuring timely delivery of products to our valued clients.
Responsibilities:
1. Shipping Operations:
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming shipments of materials, parts, and equipment.
- Prepare shipping labels.
- Package, label, and arrange products for shipment, ensuring proper handling and protection.
- Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any shipment-related issues.
- Communicate shipment updates and provide relevant information to internal teams and customers.
2. Receiving Operations:
- Unload and receive incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Inspect and report any damages or discrepancies in received items.
- Organize and store received goods in designated inventory locations.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely distribution of received materials.
- Process paperwork for any returns due to incorrect material or over-shipments.
3. Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with various internal teams, including purchasing, production, and sales, to ensure effective coordination of shipments and deliveries.
- Communicate and coordinate with external partners, such as carriers and suppliers.
- Assist in resolving any shipping or receiving issues and escalate them to the appropriate personnel when necessary.
- Provide support and assistance to colleagues as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- Proven experience as a shipping and receiving clerk or in a similar role.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and strong accuracy in record-keeping.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy packages, as required.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in a warehouse environment.
- Forklift operating experience required.
