At Benji's Backyard, we are an off leash dog hiking business looking for our next hiker. This is an introductory position wherein the path to becoming an off leash hiker begins with training under the guidance of one of our professional hikers before hiking your own group at Fort Funston.

All new dog hikers are taught the skills to keep the dogs together in a group, make sure they are playing friendly, watch for potential triggers, and keep them safe.

We believe someone with one year of professional dog handling experience is ideal for this position, however we are willing to train the right person. We will teach you about dog body language and signals, how to manage a group of dogs off leash, and the proper procedures of walking dogs professionally.

This job is incredibly rewarding, but also challenging. As we work through the stresses of issues that arise, we grow and find that we appreciate this job and our dogs even more. It's important to us that you can stay with us long-term, are willing to work even when you're not feeling 100%, and are friendly/respectful with the owners of the dogs.
