Job Description:
We are looking for a motivated, outgoing individual with a strong work ethic to work as a meat merchandiser for a key account in the greater Detroit area. The individual will travel to the account’s multiple locations on a daily basis, providing the meat managers with support in handling of our products. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in learning the ins and outs of the meat industry. This position offers significant growth opportunities for the right individual.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Work directly with the account’s Director of Meat and Seafood to make sure all stores are being supported as needed.
• Visit stores daily to monitor meat counters and shelving for proper cleanliness and adherence to the account’s program.
• Monitor key account’s orders internally to ensure timeliness of order entry and to verify that sale items are being ordered.
• Work with meat managers to help monitor inventory and transfers to other stores as needed.
• Work with Kap’s Account Manager to secure specialty items and holiday-specific programs.
• Execute weekly merchandising notes.
• Work with the account’s Director of Meat and Seafood to implement new items and programs.
• Work in conjunction with the accounts’ additional meat and seafood vendors’ merchandising teams to properly support stores.
• Determine when account’s meat departments need complete or partial resets and work with the account’s Director of Meat and Seafood to complete reset.
• Provide feedback to the account’s Director of Meat and Seafood in regard to store operations (quality issues, price, trends, competition, etc.).
• Visit competitors on a regular basis to complete price comparison check.
• Assist Kap’s operations team in the warehouse as needed and requested by head of logistics. Requirements in this regard subject to change based on the Company’s needs.
• Contribute to organizational effectiveness by offering knowledge, suggestions, and recommendations.
• Commit to early morning start times.
Skills/Requirements:
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Must be dependable, respectful, energetic, and punctual.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email.
• Proficient merchandising skills to plan and execute displays designed to drive profit, create interest, and perceived value.
• Proficient management and leadership skills.
• Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, including written, verbal, and listening skills.
• Proficient organization and planning skills, especially the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid drivers license.
• Ability to lift and maneuver boxes / packaging up to 40-60 lbs.
• Must pass pre-employment screening process.
• Previous experience in the food industry, specifically in the meat sector, is preferred.
