Aspen Academy has several amazing positions available for part time Early Childhood Teachers – Aides & Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs) – for the 23-24 School Year. If you thrive working with different age groups in the same day, planning and pivoting to meet the needs of various learners, and collaborating with a talented team, we want to meet you.

Under the direction of the After School Program Lead, these positions provide before and/or after school care and programming for up to 30 students, ages 4-11. Start date is mid-August for training and regular schedule starts August 22, 2023 through June 7, 2024.

Hours:
• Before Care Hours: Mon – Fri, 6:45am – 8:30am
• After Care Hours: Mon – Fri, 3pm – 6pm.
• Plus options for full days during pre-service in August, and for monthly half and full days during in-service days.

Time in the After School Program is structured with an after school snack, playtime either outside or inside, and free time. Time in the Before School Program includes providing breakfast and calm morning activity.

Teachers play an integral role as leaders in the school community. The Teacher’s primary role is to demonstrate a relentless drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of school; model the school’s core values with colleagues, students, parents, and larger community; and reinforce the school’s core values, guiding philosophy, rules, and school spirit consistently throughout the school environment and support and hold accountable colleagues in doing the same.

Essential Functions:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Keep attendance accurate.
• Plan and implement appropriate games and activities.
• To develop and maintain a well-managed classroom where 100% of the students are engaged, challenged, and supported. Classroom policies should be consistent with school policies.
• Prepare and supervise breakfast and/or snacks according to procedures.
• To keep classroom and play areas clean, neat and presentable. Clean up and follow closing procedures each day.
• Keep Director and Head ECT notified of problems and concerns occurring during extended care.
• Attend annual health and safety training classes.

Qualifications:
• Minimum: high energy, passion for teaching great kids. 16-years or older.
• ECTs
o Preferred: 1-2+ years’ experience working in licensed programs.
o Bachelor’s Degree or some college level course work, preferably in education, child development, etc.
• Aides
o Preferred: some experience working with children.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to use diplomacy and tact with citizens, volunteers, staff and the general public.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Grant permission for a credit criminal background check.
• Meet physical demands to perform essential functions of the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: (Ability to work full-time, including occasional evenings and weekends) work in person/in the school building; speak for long periods of time. Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally life up to 50 pounds.

Compensation: ECTs - $18.00 to $21.00 / hour, commensurate with experience & certifications. Aides - $16.00 to $18.00 / hour, commensurate with experience & certifications.
