About the Company: We call ourselves OPPO because we provide OPPOrtunities and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through our community and home-based programs.



Summary: Our Direct Support Professional (or Special Needs Caregiver) is the heart of our company. They provide services and support to clients through a variety of services both within the community and in the client’s very own homes. Each client has their own support plan and needs and their caregiver helps them stay safe, healthy, and happy! Some clients will need to be picked up or dropped off within your working zone, (mileage reimbursement available) and some clients will need activities, direction, and patience, loving support in their daily living skills. No matter what the client's particular needs, you will be an indispensable part of their lives as a Direct Support Professional.



Minimum Qualifications:

Current and active driver's license

Ability to obtain company-sponsored CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment

Ability to obtain company-sponsored SOAR/Mandt Certification within 180 days of employment



Ideal Qualifications:

Shows compassion, patience, and positive attitude, and provides excellent care

Properly manages and implements prescribed behavioral programs with aggressive, self-abuse, and non-compliant individuals



Responsibilities:

Comprehensive supervision of the client

Documents timely daily client notes and monthly reports within Company software

Achieve a minimum of 12 hours of training through mandatory company-wide huddles and other training.

Supervising, planning, and participating in activities with clients.

Support clients with specific needs and activities of daily living (ADL), bathrooms, hygiene, eating, etc.

Stays accessible and in contact with management and reports any concerns or incidents in a timely fashion

Has access to reliable transportation, provides insurance/registration in a timely manner, and drives clients safely.

Keeps required certifications updated and maintains personal compliance.

Will be responsible to transport clients or traveling to client locations within employees' assigned working zone.

May be requested to travel to a client location outside employees' work zone as needed.

Performs other duties and specialty DSP addenda areas (ie summer, after school, social skills, In-home care, or out-of-bounds programs as assigned by the supervisor



Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.

Properly manage aggressive/non-compliant individuals and be able to implement prescribed behavioral programs.

Has the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use mechanical lifts where required and transfer individuals correctly
