Accounting Associate Job Description

Position Title: Accounting Associate
Job Function: Working under the general direction of the President to oversee the day-to-day accounting functions of Absolute Distribution Inc., including Invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger tasks, and payroll.

Work Location: 2125 Broadway Street NE Minneapolis, MN 55413
Base Salary: $24+/Hour (based on experience)
Work Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (subject to change based on company needs)

Introduction
Absolute Distribution Inc. (ADI) is a two-step wholesale distributor and marketer of decking-related specialty products primarily to lumber yards, home improvement centers, and building centers. Our focus is on outdoor living-related products that enhance the outdoor living experience for the end user. To keep this focus in mind we start by serving the needs of our channel partners and/or customers.

ADI Channel Partners and Customers need:
• A variety of building products of appropriate quality and quantity in a timely manner, to re-sell, install, or use as a component of their products, solve problems, and enhance their surroundings.
• Knowledge and information that is appropriate, accurate, and timely to make informed decisions based on:
1. Sources of supply and the selection of materials.
2. Installation, use, maintenance, and warranty of our products.
3. Current business, industry, technology, and product trends.
4. Best practices that facilitate operating their businesses successfully or enhancing their lifestyle.
ADI provides the best match for the material, knowledge & information, and support in generating sales revenue by:
• Offering quality products, managing inventory, shipping materials from our warehouse, sourcing from other distributors.
• Coordinating shipments directly from the factory.
• Communicating information and sharing knowledge through personal contact, telephone contact, mail, fax, mass media advertising, email, Internet, and training classes.
• Creating Demand downstream of our channel partners.
• Closing the loop on partner-generated leads.

Reporting directly to the President will be organized with the ability to exceed associates, vendors, and customers’ expectations. Accountable for delivering measurable results regarding accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and credit collections, while achieving an integral role in ADI’s mission.

• Oversee all accounts receivable and accounts payable (credit inquiries, collections, and check processing).
• Credit card and bank reconciliation.
• Bi-weekly payroll processing.
• Process employee commissions.
• Process end-of-month reports.
• Daily invoicing.
• Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resources including benefits, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, and morale, safety, training and development, new hire onboarding, and recruiting.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.



Continuous Improvement Plan
All ADI Associates are responsible for documenting and fixing problems in the system. In addition, the Accounting Associate is responsible for improving project participation, planning, communicating, and implementing solutions for:
1. Accounting and HR compliance.
2. Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction to ensure future revenue and profitability. Satisfied customers will continue to buy from ADI and may recommend ADI to others. Analyze areas of weakness where satisfaction levels are low and suggest where improvements are needed.
3. Improving procedures that will increase productivity regarding accounting and HR.

ADI will provide resources and support for education and training. It is the associate’s responsibility to seek approval, schedule, and participate in education and/or training that will prepare them for present and future needs.

Qualification
• Preferred 2+ years of bookkeeping experience.
• Preferred Human Resources or administrative experience.
• Preferred experience with customer service.
• Preferred college degree from an accredited institution in accounting or a related major or related professional area.
• Computer skills.
• Ability and desire to learn.
